Early in his career, he worked closely with visionary leaders like Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah and Mirza Afzal Beg — experiences that deeply influenced his principles of service, dignity, and excellence, values that continue to define us as a top restaurant in Kashmir.After his retirement, Mr. Bhat invested his gratuity into a small but ambitious dream. In 2006–07, the family opened an outlet of Smokin’ Joe’s, which they successfully operated for two to three years. However, the real turning point came from a belief he consistently instilled in his sons: never settle for a job — build something of your own.When the family decided to expand beyond pizzas, restrictive franchise terms made growth impossible. Rather than compromise their vision, they chose independence. In late 2009, they launched their own brand — Amigos, which would go on to become a popular restaurant in Kashmir and a trusted name for quality dining.The name Amigos, meaning friends, was suggested by Mr. Bhat’s close family friend Sajad Reshi’s English wife. Among three proposed names, Amigos resonated instantly — warm, welcoming, and timeless.Thus, Amigos was born.
